Questions to Ask Before Starting a Kitchen Remodel
A kitchen remodel is a big project, whether you live in a small beachfront condo or a large house in the country. The keys to success are having a team you can trust and making sure you’re prepared.
Here are a few of the questions that are important to answer before starting your kitchen remodel:
What styles of kitchens do you like and why? Take a look at our gallery to get ideas and inspiration.
What do you want to get out of your kitchen remodel? Are you looking to increase your home’s value, update your kitchen, or something else?
What’s most important to you about your kitchen? Is it high-end appliances? Plenty of storage? Creating a kid-safe space? Having a place to sit and eat?
What don’t you like about your current kitchen? Answering this question can help you figure out exactly what you want to change and how you want your new kitchen to look.
When searching for a kitchen contractor or designer, these questions can help you make the right choice:
Are your designer and contractor licensed and insured? This crucial question isn’t asked often enough. Of course, at Leverette our answer is always, “Yes!”
How satisfied are your past clients? Ask for references and look up your designer on review sites like Angie’s List or check with the Better Business Bureau to learn more.
Can I get it in writing? Don’t start any project without a written estimate and outline of the scope of the remodel. At Leverette we work hard to stay under budget and on schedule, but an upfront estimate makes sure that everyone is on the same page.
What challenges do you foresee? This can be a hard question to answer, but a great design team will have an idea of what could go wrong. And they’ll be planning solutions to problems before they start.
How will my day to day life change during the kitchen remodel? Find out how long you’ll be without a kitchen. How often will workers be in your home? How many workers will there be and when?
